Service2Sumter is a nonprofit organization created by the Executive Director, Alonzo Akeem Jackson. Jackson is a native of Sumter County. He graduated from Sumter Central High School in 2012.
Upon graduating Jackson joined the United States Army in 2012 and deployed to Bagram, Afghanistan in 2013 for 7 months.
Once exiting the service in 2016, Jackson decided to serve home on a local level as a Community Manager of Lake Forest Estates Phase I&II. Jackson served as community manager for 2 years. Jackson spent countless hours repairing the complexes infrastructure. After 6 months of managing Lake Forest Estates, Jackson was nominated Manager of the Year by the United States Department of Agriculture. Jackson passed audits conducted by the state with 0 findings.
In 2022, Jackson learned about the USDA’s 504 and 502 grants/loans and began to offer free services to elderly individuals in need of home repair grants in Sumter County. Jackson was the catalyst to multiple home repair grants in Sumter. Once he was able to streamline the application process.
In 2023, President Joseph R. Biden approved the Alabama Disaster Declaration, creating a great need for a packager in Sumter, Greene, and Hale counties. Jackson accepted the challenge and began packaging applications for residents affected by severe storms, straight-line wind, and tornadoes.
