  • Service2Sumter was awarded $355,000 from HUD via the Alabama Department of Public Health and UA SAFE STATE for Lead Based Capacity Building. Service2Sumter also partnered with the City of York, AL Mayor, Willie Lake to further strengthen the outcome of this grant initiative.
$780,000 is allocated to 26 homes to abate and remediate housing in the City of York.

  • With these funds, we have been able to support numerous projects, ranging from lead paint remediation and roof repairs to plumbing updates and structural improvements.

  • Every dollar spent has improved the quality of life for residents in our community, helping them stay in their homes safely and comfortably.

  • Unsafe housing conditions, such as lead-based paint, leaky roofs, and inadequate plumbing, pose significant health risks to vulnerable populations. By combining USDA and HUD funding, we ensure that:

    • Families can stay in their homes without the threat of unsafe conditions.

    • Low-income homeowners can access financial assistance without bearing undue financial burden.

    • Long-term health risks and associated costs are minimized.

At Service2Sumter, we believe everyone deserves a safe and healthy place to call home. By integrating federal resources with local efforts, we’re building stronger, healthier communities—one home at a time.
